Fake tattoos that look like real ink

What are fake tattoos?

Fake tattoos are temporary tattoos printed with non-toxic, skin-friendly ink on a thin transfer sheet. You press one onto your skin, peel the backing away, and get the look of real ink with no needles and no long-term commitment. Our designs are drawn to look like work from a real tattoo studio, with fine linework, soft shading and realistic color, so they read as real ink from across the room.

Whether you want a tiny wrist piece, a bold chest design or a full sleeve, a fake tattoo lets you wear the art for a few days and decide later whether you love it.

Realistic fake tattoos that last up to a week

Every design in this collection is made to wear for up to a week. How long yours lasts depends on where you put it and how you treat it. Spots that rub against clothing or get washed a lot, like hands and fingers, fade faster than an upper arm, shoulder or back.

Our fake tattoos are water-resistant, not waterproof. They handle showers, sweat and a swim, but scrubbing, oils and lotions will break them down sooner. Pat the area dry after washing and skip heavy moisturizer on top of the design to keep it looking sharp for longer.

How to apply a fake tattoo

  1. Clean and dry the skin. Remove oils and lotions so the ink can grip.
  2. Cut out the design and peel off the clear protective film.
  3. Place the tattoo face-down on your skin.
  4. Press a damp cloth firmly over the backing paper and hold it there for 30 to 60 seconds.
  5. Slowly peel the paper away from one corner. If an edge lifts, press the damp cloth on it for a few more seconds.
  6. Let it air-dry and avoid touching it for a few minutes.

Fake tattoos for events, parties and trying before you ink

Fake tattoos are an easy way to finish a costume, theme a party or add something bold to a festival outfit. Halloween fans use our skull, horror and face designs. Party hosts hand out sets as favors, and film and photo crews use realistic pieces when a character needs ink.

They are also a smart way to test a real tattoo idea. Wear the design for a week, see how it looks in the mirror and in photos, and check the size and placement before you book a session with an artist. If you change your mind, it simply wears off.

Stocking up for a crowd? Through Dec 2, 2026, every order ships free, no minimum (normally free on US orders of $50 or more), and our bulk orders and wholesale pages cover larger quantities.

Fake Tattoos FAQ

How long do fake tattoos last?
Our fake tattoos last up to a week. Placement matters: designs on the upper arm, shoulder or back usually last longer than ones on hands and fingers, which get washed and rubbed more often.
Are fake tattoos waterproof?
They are water-resistant, not waterproof. You can shower, sweat and swim with them on, but scrubbing, oils and lotions will make them fade faster. Pat the area dry after washing.
How do I apply a fake tattoo?
Clean and dry your skin, peel off the clear film, place the design face-down, then press a damp cloth over the backing for 30 to 60 seconds. Peel the paper away slowly and let the tattoo air-dry.
Do fake tattoos hurt?
No. There are no needles involved. The design transfers onto the surface of your skin with water, so applying one is painless.
What are your fake tattoos made of?
Each design is printed with non-toxic, skin-friendly ink on a thin transfer sheet.
How do I remove a fake tattoo?
Rub it with baby oil or rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad, or press tape on the design and lift it off. Most designs come off in a minute or two.
